I'm interested in sharing more context to my music. For this project, each song has slowly developed both as a piece of pop music but also as a personal essay.

This song is the spiritual successor to *Antisocialite (going to parties)*. It started as a love song to an individual and evolved into a love song for an audience. I became very cynical of influencer culture while working on this project, and become acutely aware of all the behaviours I had picked up from my deeply unhealthy online content diet. How much of my day-to-day movements have been dictated (directly or indirectly) by social media? Would I do any of this if I couldn't post about it?

The choruses touches on a huge range of behaviours very quickly: body dysmorphia, partying, sex, self-exploitation, embarrassment, and the depreciating value of music. The speed at which these issues are picked up then dropped felt like a natural ode to the attention-span deficit I experience as a result of my terminally online lifestyle.

The song is written and produced by me, with additional production from Wolf Cutt that brought the song to life. In honour of the track, here are few of my favourite lyrics and some background to them:

- "Coming to a TV screen/on a TV screen/on a TV screen" - I still love the imagery of 'being on TV' despite the song being about social media; it felt appropriate to make the first word of the whole project 'cumming'
- "I did it all for you!" - an on-the-nose For You Page reference
- "I took myself to parties" - A direct nod to *Antisocialite*; much of my new music is set in 'the club,' I'm fascinated by partying as an activity
- "Bukkake in the kitchen" - legally, this never happened
- "Do not turn off your iPad!" - as far as ways of consuming social media is concerned, the iPad is so luxurious and decadent; I imagine the average iPad user lounging in a chaise longue eating popcorn while typing up the nastiest hate comment you could ever conceive of in my comments
- "Trust in a boy taking a risk" - A sentiment I share with legendary Girls character Marnie Michaels, because everybody wants to make fun of the girl who took a risk and put themselves out there creatively
- "Nobody cares/Nobody asked" - I remember the time when people would ask you a question and when you started answering, they would immediately respond with "Nobody asked!;" I'm sincerely surprised that hasn't made a comeback
- "The national anthem reduced to a dance" - I hate it when my favourite song turns into a TikTok dance trend, or really any sort of meme. We have to deflate the emotional message behind a piece of music to make it more shareable. Everyone is "running to make the joke first" (I think I got that expression from Ethel Cain?)
